Visiting the Hungarian Parliament with kids
Updated:
The Parliament is one of the most impressive buildings in Budapest, and children love the gold, the grand staircase and the guarded crown. Booking for a family has a few quirks, though, especially with children under 6.

Children under 6: free, but not online
Children under 6 visit for free, but the official shop, jegymester.hu, has no ticket type for them. The Parliament's visitor service handles families with children under 6 by email: idegenforgalom@parlament.hu. Write before your visit with your preferred date and time, the number of adults and the ages of the children, and ask how they want you to book.
The family ticket (children 6 to 14)
For children aged 6 to 14 there is a family ticket, which covers up to 2 adults and up to 3 children. It is cheaper than single tickets. Prices on jegymester.hu as listed in October 2026:
| Ticket | EU / EEA citizens | Other visitors |
|---|---|---|
| Family ticket, per adult | 4,900 HUF | 11,200 HUF |
| Family ticket, per child (6 to 14) | 2,450 HUF | 5,600 HUF |
| Single adult ticket | 7,000 HUF | 14,000 HUF |
| Student (6 to 24), single | 3,500 HUF | 7,000 HUF |
You can buy at most 10 tickets per order. Check the shop for current prices.
Example: what a family pays
Two EU parents with children aged 7, 4 and 1: the family ticket for 2 adults and the 7-year-old costs 2 × 4,900 HUF + 2,450 HUF = 12,250 HUF online. The 4-year-old and the baby are free, arranged through the visitor service by email. With single tickets the same three would cost 17,500 HUF.
Tips for the visit
- The visit is audio-guided. Everyone picks their audio language on site, so any time slot works for the whole family.
- Arrive early. Visits start at the Visitor Centre on Kossuth Lajos tér, and there is a security check for everyone, children included.
- Show them the crown. The highlight for most children is the Holy Crown in the Dome Hall, guarded by soldiers. Read seeing the Holy Crown of Hungary for the story to tell them on the way.
When it is sold out
Family dates sell out just like the rest. Returned tickets come back on sale every day and go within minutes, so families with fixed travel dates do best with an alert. Read our guide to sold-out Parliament tickets, or compare with guided tours from tour companies, which often still have places.
